Hailing from the tranquil village of Kuttemperoor in Kerala’s picturesque backwaters district of Allapuzha, Anantha Krishnan M was born to teacher-parents. He strayed into Journalism at the age of 19 after leaving a B.E. course mid-way in Latur.
He started his career as a freelance journalist in Hyderabad with local dailies until the dream call came from Deccan Chronicle in 1993. Later, he took up a short assignment with Asianet in Chennai and in 1998 landed a job with The Times of India, Bangalore. In 2005 he joined HAL as its Official Spokesperson and set up its maiden Corporate Communications Department. In 2010, he got back to journalism and joined US-based Aviation Week. For the last two years, he is with The New Indian Express, Bangalore as a Defence Correspondent in addition to heading its features supplement, City Express.
A disciple of former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Anantha Krishnan was instrumental in launching Dr Kalam’s e-paper Billion Beats in 2007, and was its first National Affairs Editor. In 2008, he launched the Inspired Indian Foundation in 2008 — a writers’ movement —to promote good writing and celebrate unsung heroes. The activities of IIF are silent as a matter of principle. He was awarded a doctorate in Journalism and Communication by the University of Mysore for his thesis related to internal communication in a defence set-up, in 2012. He has authored the best-seller Biography of Indian Paralympian, Malathi K Holla, which is titled A Different Spirit. He is married to Sindhu A, a physicist and the couple is blessed with a son, Govind Sai Krishnan A.
