After his near-death experience at Pico de Orizaba, a climb that claimed the life of his best friend, Gary Guller made a decision to keep climbing. His decision was not without cost; to pursue climbing again meant the amputation of his left arm. In the years to follow, he stood atop several of the world’s highest peaks, completed an Ironman competition and competed in Marathon de Sables- the world’s toughest footrace. He went on to lead the largest cross-disability team to reach the base camp of Mt. Everest on April 6, 2003. Later, on 23rd May, 2003, Gary Guller became the first person with one arm to reach the summit of Mt. Everest.
Gary, along with Philip Macko has authored the book ‘Make Others Greater’ which combines all of Gary’s incredible adventures and gives an insightful perspective on leadership and the importance of global diversity in the market place.
Currently, Gary is also a motivational speaker who uses his experiences to share with he audience the importance of equality, hard work, team-spirit and determination.
