How does one become a mindfulness expert? For Shamash Alidina, the path included studying Chemical Engineering, working towards building an oil rig and falling in love with Philosophy and life coaching.
Shamash started his career as a teacher who taught at a private school in the UK. Having been born and brought up in London by immigrant parents, he understood the importance of having a stable career. However, he was drawn to philosophy and began to spend more and more time exploring the field.
While he was teaching, he realised that he got the most satisfaction out of interacting one-on-one with his students and giving some basic life coaching. Soon, he was working with adults as well. This was his first step towards making mindfulness his full-time career.
Today, Shamash is a motivational speaker, life coach and teacher. He is also the founder of the Museum of Happiness (MOH). The MOH is a non-profit organisation that tries to teach people about happiness and well-being through exhibitions, experiences, workshops and events. The values behind the MOH are:
- Compassion
- Community
- Creativity
- Consciousness
The Museum of Happiness is volunteer run and they believe that happiness is a big factor in increasing productivity, creativity, communication and profit. MOH has been a huge success. In fact, they even had some exciting visitors – the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu! Now, that’s something to be proud of!
