Prof. Krishnarao Jaisim had his visiting card printed in green – symbolic of his eco-friendly and iconoclastic designs, 45 years ago. Prof. Jaisim is one of India’s most senior architects and the past chairman of the Indian Institute of Architects, Karnataka Chapter.
Jaisim attended Madras Christian College School (class of 1960). He completed his university education in architecture in 1966, from Madras University. His early years in the field were inspired by greats such as Buckminster Fuller, Koenigsberger and Geoffrey Bawa. From 1966 to 1970, he worked with the architectural firm of L M Chitale & Son, Madras. In 1970, inspired by Ayn Rand’s novel, The Fountainhead, he started an architecture practice under the name “Jaisim-Fountainhead”.
He has been the recipient of several prestigious awards and honours for his immense contribution to the field of architecture and design.
Prof. Jaisim has created and recreated innumerable homes, institutions and commercial enterprises. He has written over 150 papers and articles, made about 1500 presentations, serves on several boards and councils, and finds time to interact with students of architecture all over India.
