Who: Mridula Martis
Education: Chartered Accountant; Teaching Qualification from United Kingdom Alliance Dance (UKA Dance), affiliated to Council for Dance and Education Training.
Martha Graham, a famous dancer, once said, “Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion.” And it is this passion that led Mridula Martis, one of Bangalore’s best dancers, to quit her high-paying job at KPMG and start something entirely new. She studied and qualified to be a dance instructor with the respected UKA Dance. And the rest, as they say, is history!
Mridula learnt to love dancing by watching her father who used to be a naval officer. Dancing has always been a part of her life and when she saw the chance to explore her passion further – she took it. She hasn’t looked back since!
Today, Mridula combines her business knowledge and her gift for dance. She runs a well-known dance studio called Dance With Me Studio. In addition to her love of dance, she also enjoys teaching other dancers. Her studio is a great space where dancers of all ages come together to celebrate the art form. Mridula also writes about dance and her own experiences and has published two books already.
Mridula’s experience working in a corporate has also given her the chance to help people. She regularly hosts workshops for the employees of big companies like Unilever, KPMG, Cisco and TCS. However, her favourite workshops are the ones that she conducts for children with special needs. Her workshops give people the chance to explore a new talent and realise their own passion.
Congrats, Mridula for turning your own passion into a wonderful profession!
