Sumedha Mahajan hails from Amritsar, Punjab. She was introduced to sports very early in life by her father, Dr Vishav. This helped Sumedha overcome her physical and emotional problems associated with her asthmatic condition. While she was passionate about tennis, her mother, Dr Kamlesh, ensured that she had enough time for studies, debate, music, and other co-curricular activities as well. Sumedha is the second born with an older and younger sibling, who all, according to her, made for a perfect support system and tennis partners.
Sumedha was a regular at the hospital. To keep herself fit she started running, which later became her passion. The more she ran, the better she felt about herself and her health. She considers the endurance marathon that she ran in Malaysia as the toughest, since she wasn’t prepared for the incredibly challenging conditions. The humidity levels were at 99% there and it was considered as one of the toughest races in the world. In April 2012, she ran 1500 km from Delhi to Mumbai in 30 days. She also finds her name in the Limca Book of Records.
Being an Economics graduate with an MBA degree, she runs her own enterprise in Mumbai. She has recently authored “Miles To Run Before I Sleep” published by Rupa Publications, for which she had to approached around 14 publishing houses including some big ones for publication.
Sumedha is also a motivational speaker. She can be reached here: http://www.sumedhamahajan.com/
