Vasundhara Das is a famous singer, composer, actress, entrepreneur and speaker. She was born on October 27th, 1977 in a Hebbar Iyengar Brahmin family in Bangalore. Her mother works in the IISC, and is a part of the admin staff. Currently she works with the archives and the publication cell in the university. Vasundhara’s father is an avid golfer and travels around the world golfing these days. He’s been an entrepreneur and has donned many hats before.
Vasundhara did her schooling from Cluny Convent High School, Sri Vidya Mandir, and Mount Carmel College in Bangalore. She was brought up in the Malleshwaram area in Bangalore, and still resides there. She’s married to Roberto Narain, a famous drummer, who was also her good friend. They got married in Kundapur in Karnataka at a house of a friend on the beach, just because it was special.
She’s popular for her songs worldwide, and has worked with renowned composers like A. R. Rehman, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Vishal-Shekhar. Vasundhara is famous for her songs like Shakalaka Baby, It’s the time to disco, Salaam Namaste, and Where’s the party tonight? She has also sung many songs in other languages like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
Known for her movies like Hey Ram, Monsoon Wedding, Ravana Prabhu, Citizen and Lankesh Patrike, she has also acted in several other movies. She also founded Arya, a world music band. Vasundhara Das has also given many talks, and is currently actively conducting Drumjams along with Roberto, apart from working on The Shah Hussain Project, which is produced by The Active. It’s her Bangalore-based studio.
